Tunisia

Bourguiba set the country towards socialism, but in 1969 moved to the right. In 1987 he was replaced in a nonviolent coup by the present president, Zine El Abidine Ben All. Tunisia today has the most liberal laws in the Arab world regarding religion and women's rights. Although formally a democracy, politics are dominated by one party, the Rassemblement Constitutional Democratiquc.
