Chain and rope combinations

In really extreme circumstances, I have known yachts snub at chain cable even on a 10:1 scope. Snubbing is unacceptable. The answer, if this rarest of situations looks like developing, is to rig a longish length of nylon warp into the bight of the final 50 ft (15 m) or so of chain. The slack is taken up on the warp and the chain eased out into a bight. The stretch of the nylon now acts as a spring to which the boat lies comparatively quietly. She also benefits from the ultimate security of the chain, which is still there, and the warp is assisted in its job by the weight of the bight, which it must straighten out before its elastic limit is reached. A suitable length of warp ready-equipped with a chain hook should be carried for this. It can also double as the fair-weather 'snubber' mentioned on pg 66.

How To Have A Perfect Boating Experience

Lets start by identifying what exactly certain boats are. Sometimes the terminology can get lost on beginners, so well look at some of the most common boats and what theyre called. These boats are exactly what the name implies. They are meant to be used for fishing. Most fishing boats are powered by outboard motors, and many also have a trolling motor mounted on the bow. Bass boats can be made of aluminium or fibreglass.
